![]() ![]() Getting to give voices to all the characters was an absolute honor, and it makes me incredibly sad knowing that we may never be able to write any new adventures for them again. Everything about the Katamari world makes me happy, and I just hope that anyone who followed the strip felt that we did right by it. Xevious is a key achievement within the lexicon of classic NAMCO arcade games, said Rob Pereyda, Producer, Editor-in-Chief & Head of ShiftyLook. ![]() The webcomics world is definitely worse off without them.Īs for Katamari, we are so happy we got to write a comic strip about one of our all-time favorite video game franchises for a year and a half. At its upcoming launch in March, ShiftyLook will feature webcomics re-imagining Xevious, Sky Kid and other NAMCO BANDAI Games titles. ShiftyLook, though funded by Namco Bandai, was run by a very small group of super passionate, hard-working guys, and they treated us and the other artists better than pretty much any organization I’ve ever seen. Did you read the Galaga strip that Ryan North/Chris Hastings/Anthony Clark did? Or the Scott Kurtz/Kris Straub Mappy cartoon? Or any of the many other great things put out under the ShiftyLook label? If not, you should take the time to do so, because they may or may not cease to be available by the end of the year. For those of you who dont know, ShiftyLook is a now-defunct sect of Namco (Pacman, Digdug, etc.) that was set to bring some of their more obscure games to light by making webcomics and webseries about them. Later tonight our final Katamari strip will get posted, concluding our 150 strip run of the series! Sadly, ShiftyLook is shutting down, so almost all of the cool stuff that they were doing is getting cancelled. Here's what Alex Curang (probably) wrote about the site: There were others as well but those were my favorites. There's even some from Zach Weiner (SMBC)! I've linked to where I started really liking it. Goro was a former criminal, stealing priceless artwork from museums. Mappy then ended up looking for another job and being hired by Goro as. This got him let go from the Micro-Police force. He was part of the Micro Police before getting caught up in a conflict with his foe Goro, leading him to accidentally shooting up a priceless painting in a museum. NOTE: While these signs may appear to have raised letters, textured rust or embossing. Mappy is the protagonist of the series, originating from the old Namco arcade game and games that followed. The Dig Dug strip had contributions from many artists and writers. It is weatherproof and suitable for both indoors and outdoors. ShiftyLook Editor-in-Chief Rob Pereyda gives CBR News new details on Namco Bandais newest comic initiative in celebration of 'Dig Dugs' 30th Anniversary this year. I think the hope was that they could sell merchandise and new games better if they had fans coming back to the site frequently.
